Scholarship Application

If you have financial need and would not be able to attend The Asmara Experience Paradise Retreat without assistance, we encourage you to apply.

Our funding priorities include:

Everyone with financial need is welcome to apply. However, we recognize that certain voices in our community have been underrepresented, and we aim to help balance this through our scholarship program. We prioritize applications based on financial need (70%) and statement of intended use of Raqs Sharqi (30%).

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will receive confirmation within two weeks of the applications closing. You then have one week to confirm your spot through written confirmation to the email address: contact@asmarabellydance.org or simply reply to the email sent to you. If you do not confirm your spot within one week, the scholarship will be awarded to another applicant on the waitlist.

Scholarships are offered on the following eligibility brackets:

  1. A minimum of one year of experience in Raqs Sharqi (formal training, self-study, or community-based learning included)
  2. $35,000 annual income or less as a single adult
  3. $60,000 annual income or less as a family of 2 or more

Your scholarship application is 100% confidential. All information gathered is only used to help us determine eligibility.

  1. Application Period: Applications will be open for 1 month from February 15, 2025 - March 15, 2025.
  2. Scholarship coverage includes:
    1. Four days and three nights of accommodation at Cache Boutique Hotel
    2. All classes and workshops
    3. Excursions and activities
    4. Gala show and performances by instructors and retreat participants
    5. Daily breakfast
    6. Transportation from the airport to the hotel
  3. Personal Financial Responsibilities:
    1. Flight
    2. Food (outside of breakfast)
    3. Transportation back to the airport from the hotel
  4. Commitment: Scholarship recipients must commit to the entire trip (all 4 days of the retreat) to be considered for scholarship.
